Eligibility for Admission

a. Students who have passed two year Pre degree university course (PUC) in Kerala or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Calicut for purpose of admitting the candidates to the Bachelor degree course.

b. The candidate must have taken either Physics (P), Chemistry (C), Mathematics (M), or Biology (B) group of subjects (PCM/B) in meeting the requirements.

c. The candidate should have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the PUC or its equivalent examination. (45% in case of SC/ST candidates)

d. The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination in the first attempt

e. Age limit for the general candidates is 21 years and for SC/ST it is 23 years.

Total number of seats allotted are 24. All seats will be filled on the basis of merit on all India basis within the specification given below:

Note: Applicants eligible for reservation are those
.

  1. who are members of families which have an aggregate annual income ie, annual income of all members in the family from all sources taken together is up to than Rs.1.5 lakhs (Rupees one lakh and fifty thousand only) and who belong to Caste and Communities mentioned in Annexure to G.O.P 208/66/Edn. Dated 2/5/1966 will be considered as Socially and Educationally backward classes for the purposes of reservation referred to above. A certificate from the concerned Village Officer to this effect has to be furnished in the application form.

  2. Applicants belonging to Latin Catholic Community and who claim eligibility for reservation should produce a community certificate from the concerned Village Officer specifying that they belong to Latin Catholic other than Anglo Indian Community.

  3. Applicants belonging to Anglo Indian Community and who claim eligibility for reservation should produce a Community certificate from the concerned Village Officer specifying that they belong to Anglo Indian Community.

  4. Candidates claiming reservation under Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe should produce the Caste Certificate from a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar in the proforma given in the application form. Christian converts who have subsequently embraced Hinduism should produce Community Certificate in 1 with the Government Circular No.18421/E2/SCSTDD dated 15/12/1987 for reservation under Scheduled Caste quota.

  5. The seats unavailed by the Scheduled Caste Candidates will go to Scheduled Tribe candidates and vice versa.

  6. The seats unavailed by SC/ST candidates will be filled up from OEC candidates (vide G.O.P 301/87/H.Edn dated 3/12/1987).

  7. The seats unavailed by OEC will go to open merit pool. (State wide basis).

  8. Children of inter caste married couple claiming communal reservation should furnish a Certificate from the Village Officer to the effect that the candidate is the son/daughter of Shri…………………………………….father belonging to ………………………….Community and Smt……………………………mother belonging to……………………………..Community.

  9. Candidates claiming reservation under Ex-servicemen/sons/daughters of Ex-servicemen should furnish a certificate issued not earlier than 6 months from the date of application from the State/District Sainik Welfare Officer to that effect.

  10. Candidates claiming reservation under sons/daughters of serving Defence Personnel and Para Military forces including CRPF serving/disabled/killed in action should produce a certificate issued not earlier than 6 months from the date of application from the Officers Commanding under whom they are serving/were serving to that effect.

  11. Candidates claiming reservation under children/widow of defence personnel killed in action/missing or disabled in action should produce a certificate issued not earlier than 6 months from the date of application from the State/District Sainik Welfare Officer to the effect that the candidate is the son/daughter/widow of the defence personnel killed in action/missing/disabled in action.

  12. If no candidate is available under defence killed in action/missing or disabled in action quota the seat will be ear marked for children of Defence Personnel died in Service.

  13. Candidates claiming reservation under physically handicapped quota should produce a certificate from the Superintendent of District Hospital/Professor, Medical College showing the degree of disability. Only those who are having more than 40% disability and are suitable for pursuing the course.

  14. Against the seats reserved under Sports Quota (Athletics and Other Games at State level) if there are vacant seats under one event the same will be filled up by admitting the eligible candidates proficient under other event i.e., the seats allocated for Athletics and Other Games will be permitted to be interchanged subject to availability of applicants.

  15. If any seat in the reservation quota is left unavailed of by candidates belonging to that particular category those seats will go to open merit pool (State wide).

  16. The Society has the sole authority of final decisions on seat allocation

Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals have maximum of 12.5% of the seats.

  1. All foreign students abroad, are required to approach the Indian embassies in their countries and apply well in advance if they fulfill the eligibility requirements. Those foreign students in India, should first apply to the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development and obtain a Clearance-cum-No Objection Certificate for admission to this Institute. They should then apply to the Ministry of External Affairs, for forwarding it to the Institute. Only such candidates will be permitted to appear for entrance tests at this Institute, subject to their fulfilling the eligibility requirements as applicable to the general candidates. They will be admitted only if found suitable. No admission to foreign students is given if their passport shows any type of visa, other than students/provisional students visa. Students having 'X' entry visa have to go back to their countries even if they get admission in Indian Universities on the expiry of the initial period of stay allowed in their original visa. Under no circumstances is a change of purpose of visit to India allowed. No change of Institution (other than that mentioned in the student's visa/provisional student's visa) is allowed.

  2. Self-supporting foreign nationals, should also give the relevant data. Their admission is subject to the regulations of the Government of India. They should deposit a specified amount with the Institute immediately on admission, to cover the first year's fees plus board and lodging charges and related expenses. The Institute does not offer financial assistance to foreign nationals. They should give an undertaking to undergo a HIV/AIDS tests as per the Government of India regulations

NRI Quota

Candidates seeking admission under NRI quota should produce along with the application, one of the following documents to prove the NRI status of his/her parent and a declaration of the NRI in the prescribed form to establish his/her relationship with the candidate.

  1. Attested copy (by Embassy Official) of the relevant pages of the Passport containing Visa details.

  2. Attested copy (by Embassy Official) of the Employment Certificate and relevant pages of Passport.

  3. Certificate issued by a scheduled bank stating that he/she is a Non-Resident Indian holding an NRI account other than a zero balance account
